Build a business slide draft around one brief

Define the audience, evidence and outline before layout, then check brand consistency and exports.

Short answer: Write the decision you want from the audience before generating slides. Give each slide one job and keep invented figures out of the draft. A well-designed deck still needs a clear argument and a specific request at the end.

A concrete example

For a fictional request to fund a small booking-system trial, use five slides: the current booking problem, a sample customer journey, the proposed trial, the resources needed and the approval requested. Any sample figures should be labelled as illustrative assumptions.

This is a suggested exercise, not a recorded product test. It describes the result to aim for; it does not claim that every listed tool can complete every step.

Prepare these inputs

Prepare the audience, decision, meeting length, confirmed figures and source notes. Write a one-line message for each slide. Keep an explicit 'information missing' field instead of asking the generator to fill factual gaps.

Build it in this order

  1. Generate an outline from the brief and check the order of the argument before choosing a visual theme.
  2. Draft slides using the confirmed figures and one meaningful visual per idea.
  3. Rehearse the deck aloud, remove repeated points and check whether the final request follows from the evidence.

Check the result

  • The opening explains what the audience is being asked to decide.
  • Every number is sourced or clearly marked as an example assumption.
  • Slide titles carry the argument, and charts remain understandable without the presenter explaining every label.

If the result fails

If the deck is polished but vague, return to the one-line slide messages. Replace a decorative chart with a simple comparison when there is no real dataset. Move supporting detail to an appendix instead of shrinking text.

Time and cost to watch

Count time correcting layouts, replacing generic imagery and adapting the exported file. Check whether the people who maintain the deck can edit the actual output they receive.

Tools worth comparing

Try the presentation candidates below with the same brief. Compare outline quality, readable slides and the effort of changing one figure after export. Choose around the team's editing process rather than the first generated theme.
