This project turns personal reading notes into six discussion cards and a 45-minute meeting plan. AI helps vary the questions; it must not invent scenes, page numbers or quotations. The sample uses a fictional book and PickByTask did not test a real meeting.
Canva currently offers document, presentation and design formats together with AI writing features. It can lay out the checked cards, but the host remains responsible for the text. Canva's AI terms also require attention to input rights and output use. Canva · AI Product Terms

Prepare notes that can support a discussion
Use notes you wrote or may lawfully reuse. Number each note and separate your observation from any short quotation. Record the correct page or location only when you checked it in your copy. Choose six notes covering a decision, relationship, recurring image, change, disagreement and open question.
Use Canva to lay out the checked discussion cards, while keeping your own reading notes as the only source for claims and quotations. Allow an estimated 40–60 minutes for six cards and a plan, excluding account setup and printing.

Use only my numbered reading notes below.
Draft six open discussion questions: character decision, relationship,
recurring image, change, disagreement and open question.
After each question, cite the supporting note number.
Do not invent a quotation, event, page number, author intention or answer.
If a category has no support, write NEEDS NOTE.
Then propose a 45-minute order with opening, six questions and closing.

- Select six notes and label each as observation, quotation or question.
- Run the prompt. Move every
NEEDS NOTEresult to a correction list instead of asking AI to fill the gap. - Check that each card cites a note that actually supports the wording.
- Replace yes/no questions with prompts that invite comparison or evidence.
- Arrange the meeting: five-minute welcome, six five-minute cards, five-minute closing and five-minute buffer.
- Put the approved cards into one readable template and print or export a plain backup.
Worked fictional sample
Note 3 says: “Mira keeps the unopened letter after deciding not to confront Arun.” A supported card asks, “What does Mira's decision to keep the letter change in how you read her relationship with Arun? Use Note 3.” It must not quote the letter or claim what Arun wrote because the note does not contain that information.
The pack passes when all six cards point to supporting notes, quotation marks appear only around words copied and checked, and the timed plan fits 45 minutes. Ask another reader to flag questions that assume facts absent from the notes.
Recover when the draft drifts
If AI invents details, use one note at a time and ask for two question options. If the layout tool is unavailable, write each approved question on paper or use a numbered document. If the group has not read the same edition, cite note numbers rather than unreliable page numbers.
