Short answer: Use AI to explore backgrounds and composition while keeping the product's real shape, colour, label and included parts fixed. Separate a conceptual scene from an image meant to show exactly what a customer will receive.

A concrete example

For a fictional ceramic mug, prepare a clean catalogue image and a lifestyle scene. The handle, printed mark and mug colour must match the reference in both. A generated spoon or gift box must not imply that it is included in the sale.

This is a suggested exercise, not a recorded product test. It describes the result to aim for; it does not claim that every listed tool can complete every step.

Prepare these inputs

Gather your own clear reference photos, approved colours, logo files and a list of details that cannot change. Decide where the image will appear and the required crop before creating variants.

Build it in this order

  1. Start with a clean reference and remove distractions without altering the product silhouette.
  2. Create one background variation, then compare the handle, edges, label and reflections against the reference.
  3. Crop for the actual placement and inspect at full size and at the small size a visitor will see.

Check the result

  • The product has the correct parts, proportions and readable label.
  • Props do not create a false impression of size or package contents.
  • The final crop leaves the important product details visible.

If the result fails

If a variant changes the product, return to the reference and reduce the requested edit. For exact catalogue representation, retain the original product photo and use a simpler background rather than accepting a plausible substitute.

Time and cost to watch

Count discarded variants, retouching and resizing as part of production. Save approved source files so a later crop does not require regenerating the product and checking it again.

Tools worth comparing

Compare the image and design candidates listed below using the same reference and one intended placement. Check editing control and usable export files for that task. An attractive generation is not evidence of product accuracy.
